Thiruvananthapuram: In a significant development, Kerala has received a sigh of relief from the Nipah virus scare as Health Minister Veena George announced that no new positive cases have emerged, and the health of those currently under treatment is improving.

Following a ministerial-level Nipah review meeting, Health Minister Veena George addressed the media with encouraging updates. She revealed that there have been no new positive cases of Nipah virus reported in the state. She also expressed optimism about the improving health conditions of patients currently undergoing treatment for the disease.

In a reassuring development, 94 additional samples have been tested, and all have returned negative results, bolstering the state's efforts to contain the virus. Among these samples were those from 11 individuals deemed to be at high risk for Nipah infection, all of whom tested negative.

Notably, the health condition of Nipah patients currently receiving treatment has shown marked improvement, offering hope for their speedy recovery. Even a child who required ventilator support is now reported to be in a better health condition.

The Health Minister emphasized that a comprehensive investigation is underway, with a particular focus on the index case. Authorities are working to trace the source of the Nipah virus and are scrutinizing the deceased native of Maruthonkara's mobile location to determine how he may have contracted the disease.
