Ex-Kerala CM Oommen Chandy hospitalised due to Pneumonia
text_fieldsBengaluru/Thiruvananthapuram: Former Kerala Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy was admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru on Friday after viral Pneumonia.
Chandy’s son Chandy Oommen shared the information through social media and requested all to pray for the two-time Kerala chief minister’s health. He also reminded people that visitors are not allowed inside the hospital.
“Father is back in hospital with Viral Pneumonia. Visitors are restricted. Seeking all your prayers”, Chandy Oommen wrote on Facebook.
Chandy has been under treatment in a private hospital in Bengaluru since February. Also, he was not in complete health since 2019 and had undergone laser surgery for a throat ailment at a hospital in Germany.
Last year, he was admitted to a multi-speciality hospital in Bengaluru and returned to Thiruvananthapuram on January 1. When he was supposed to return for further treatment, he failed to do so, which led to speculation and confusion, IANS reports.
After Chandy’s younger brother and 41 others wrote Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressing concerns about the former CM’s health, things started to move, and a special team of government medical professionals was constituted in January.
He was taken to hospital on advice and found that he was suffering from Pneumonia.
