Eid-ul-Fitr in Kerala tomorrow after moon sighted in Malappuram
text_fieldsKozhikode: Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across Kerala on Friday, following the sighting of the Shawwal crescent in Chettipadi near Parappanangadi, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Prominent religious leaders, including Khadis Panakkad Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, Syed Jifri Muthukoya Thangal, Kanthapuram AP Abubakar Musliyar and Syed Ibrahim Khalilul Bukhari, confirmed the it and announced that the state will observe the festival.
With the confirmation of the new moon, preparations for Eid prayers and related observances have gathered pace across the state.
Most of the Gulf countries will celebrate Eid on Friday too. Authorities in the region had made extensive arrangements for moon sighting, with the Saudi Supreme Court being the first to officially declare the beginning of Shawwal. Subsequently, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait also announced Friday as Eid.
Oman remains an exception, as Ramadan began there a day later than in other Gulf nations. Officials in Oman are expected to observe the crescent on Thursday.
Meanwhile, several Gulf countries have completed large-scale preparations for the festival. However, reports indicate that Eid prayers may be curtailed or avoided in many areas due to the prevailing tense situation in the region, prompting authorities to prioritise public safety.
