CPM bid to build up party in other states a la RSS; Keralite cadres to be deployed
text_fieldsKannur: Working on a plan to build a country-wide party base, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) is set to deploy about 24,000 party activists across the country.
The decision in this regard taken by the party's Central Committee was explained by the state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan at the zonal level meeting in Kannur. The zonal reporting session held at Nayanar Academy on Wednesday, was attended by cadres down to the local committee secretaries from the districts of Kasargod, Kannur, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
24,000 cadre workers are proposed to be sent to 29 states of the country after special training. They will be full-time workers, and young bachelors. S elected cadres will be given training including language.
The model of having such dedicated workers to energize the organization across the country has hither to been a hallmark of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). What the CPM is attempting to have is a Communist version of the same, in the backdrop of RSS pracharaks having worked diligently and succeeded in enabling its political arm to grab power in the country.
The CPM that got confined to just three states, is facing threats even in its strongholds of Bengal and Tripura. And this when CPM's labour union CITU has a strong presence and influence in the labour belts and its farmer outfit, All-India Kisan Sabha in the agrarian belt. However, despite such possibilities to have roots in those areas, the party has no presence in these regions. The CPM is trying to tap this possibility through the appointment of full-time workers.
The decision also provides that the support for the families of the so deployed cadres is to be provided by the local party units. As and when they return to Kerala, they will be given priority in candidature for local bodies and for party committee positions.
