Vassalage in police: Probe ordered against Dy. Commandant
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police have ordered a probe against SAP Camp Deputy Commandant PV Raju in the vassalage allegations raised against him. In parallel, Crime Branch has started investigation in the case involving the assault of a police driver by the daughter of ADGP.
Daily wage policemen of SAP camp had complained that they were deployed for tile works of the Deputy Commandant's house. The visuals of the incident had emerged earlier. Battalion IG EJ Jayaraj is leading the investigation.
Meanwhile, senior IPS officers met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan complaining that they were being blamed for the orderly system. They requested the CM to frame guidelines in deploying the camp followers and police staff in camps.
Crime Branch Superintendent Prashanthan Kani took a statement from Gavaskar, the police driver who was assaulted by the ADGP's daughter, at Medical College hospital. It is learned that, Gavaskar stood firm in his complaints. The investigation team examined the records of Gavaskar's treatment. Later, Gavaskar told the media that an effort was on to disrupt the investigation and he is facing a threat for his life.

The witness also has given statement to police that there was loud noise inside ADGP Sudesh Kumar's vehicle. Vaishakh, who works in a nearby juice parlour had recounted that he heard noises from the vehicle in the morning on the day of the incident.
However, the witness stated that he could not assess what was happening inside the vehicle as there was a traffic jam in the road. He came to realise the incident after reading the newspaper on the next day. ADGP and family used to come for a walk. However, ADGP was not there on the day of the incident, Vaishakh said.
Meanwhile, office bearers of camp followers' association have met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to draw attention to the problems faced by the staff. They requested to form a commission to study the problems faced by the camp followers. They pointed out how seven staff of Thiruvananthapuram rural camp were deployed for construction works even in the height of the controversy. They also alleged that high level functionaries still contravene laws though DGP has released orders to stop the orderly system in the police.
