President to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram for a two-day visit

Thiruvananthapuram: President Ram Nath Kovind will arrive in the State capital on Friday for a two-day visit.

The President will reach here at 2.50pm in a special flight, according to sources.

He would lay the foundation stone for the first government IT building at Technocity at nearby Pallippuram, at 3.30 pm. the launching of the 400 acre IT hub will be attended by Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, minister Kadakampally Surendran, A Sampath, MP, C Divakaran, MLA, and other senior officials.

At 5.50pm, he will visit the Ayyankali statue at Vellaymbalam circle and pay floral tributes to the social reformer.

The day’s schedule also includes a function organised by state government to honor the President at Tagore theatre at 6pm. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, speaker P Ramakrishnan, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, minister Kadakampally Surendran and Mayor V K Prasanth will speak at the function.

On Saturday, Kovind will inaugurate the diamond jubilee celebrations of High Court in Kochi at 11am. He will return to New Delhi at 12.30pm.

This is his second visit to state in a month after he attended the birthday celebrations of Mata Amritananda Mayi three weeks ago.
