Thiruvananthapuram: Governor P Sathasivam Tuesday greeted people of the state on the eve of the 61st anniversary of the state formation day.

Kerala celebrates November 1 as the state formation day.

In a message, the Governor said "on the occasion of the Kerala Piravi which marks the 61st year of the birth of our beloved state, I convey my heartfelt love and best wishes to the people of the state and to Keralites all over the world."

He also urged people to join hands to help the southern state script a new model of development and preserve the amity and harmony during the occasion.

"Let us join hands to help Kerala script a new model of development and to preserve the aroma of amity and harmony that has always enriched our society," the Governor added.

The state of Kerala was formed on November 1, 1956 by integrating the erstwhile Malabar, under the British rule during the colonial era, with the princely states of Travancore and Cochin.
