Thiruvananthapuram: Hibi Eden, MLA Monday moved a Breach of Privilege notice against Tribal Affairs Minister A.K Balan for his remarks on infant deaths in Attappady.

Kicking up a major row, A K Balan had said the deaths in Attappady were not due to malnutrition, and attempted to pass the buck to the previous UDF government.

“One of them got pregnant during your time and she got aborted now. I’m not responsible for that. Another had a valve complaint; She also got pregnant during your time, and has been delivered of a child now,” the minister said.

The minister had later in a Facebook post defended his remark, saying it was distorted by a section of media. In the notice, Hibi Eden said the minister should have given his reply in the Assembly instead on the social media platforms.
