Thiruvananthapuram: Seeking to strengthen Congress in all states to meet emerging challenges, AICC Secretaries will be interacting with grass-roots level workers and functionaries in states under their charge, KPCC President V M Sudheeran said Saturday.

As part of the process, General Secretary Mukul Wasnik, in-charge of the state, will tour all districts of Kerala soon to mobilise views of party functionaries at 'mandal', block and district levels and later draw up a comprehensive report to be submitted to the AICC.

Briefing reporters on the deliberations of the KPCC Executive meeting held here today, he said Wasnik will meet the office-bearers of various tiers and civic body members of the northern districts from January 19 to 25 and those of the southern districts from February 12 to 18.

These interactions will be followed by a meeting of state leaders and legislators and after that the KPCC executive would meet and prepare the report to be submitted to the AICC to bolster the organisation, he said.

The KPCC meeting, attended by senior leader A K Antony and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, resolved to strengthen unity in the state unit by ensuring that differences over issues like liquor policy would not harm larger goals.

A major task on hand for the party was to equip the rank and file for the local body polls to be held this year end, Sudheeran said.
