Youth League opposes K M Mani’s recruitment freeze plan
text_fieldsMalappuram: Muslim Youth League, the youth wing of Muslim League, has come out against the remarks of Finance Minister K M Mani that the government would go in for a recruitment freeze in the State.
Talking to reports here on Sunday, Youth League state president P M Sadiq Ali asked the government to withdraw the plan.
“The government should not go ahead with such a plan citing financial crisis. The sudden uproar about the financial crisis is suspicious as that seems to be an effort to derail the liquor policy,” Sadiq Ali said.
“Resolving the economic crisis should not be by putting the burden on the young generation. Instead, the government should seek ways to collect crores of rupees of unpaid taxes,” he saud.
Delivering his keynote address at the State conference of the Assistant Vehicle Inspectors Association on Saturday, K M Mani had said the Cabinet had already taken a decision not to create new vacancies during the current financial year. The Finance Department had decided not to sanction any new vacancies this year.
This recommendation was approved by the Cabinet, he said.
He made it clear that the creation of new vacancies had to be discussed at the Cabinet-level, since the expenditure on salary and related matters would register corresponding increase.
