Kochi: The High Court Wednesday directed the state Police Chief to ensure that during monthly poojas at Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala, the toilet blocks and other places in traditional path towards the shrine from Pamba are not used by unauthorised vendors.

A division bench comprising justice T R Ramachandran Nair and Justice P V Asha asked the Superintendent of Police, Pathnamthitta to ensure that toilet blocks and other places in traditional path towards the shrine were not used by unauthorised vendors.

The court also directed the senior police officer to prevent begging on the trekking path.

The order was issued while considering the Aug 4 report of Sabarimala special commissioner pointing that tea stall was found operating from a toilet block at Neelimala.
