Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the World's first Nano Urea Liquid plant by IFFCO at Kalol, Gujarat. IFFCO Nano Urea is the only Nano fertilizer approved by the Government of India and included in the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO).

Urea being the most important nitrogenous fertiliser used in India, the company claims one bottle of Nano Urea can replace at least one bag of Urea. The plant is an effort to boost productivity in the agriculture sector and to help farmers increase income.

Amit Shah, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel, and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya were also present at the ceremony. The Prime Minister dedicated the Ultramodern Nano Urea Liquid Fertilizer plant to the Nation.

IFFCO has set up more manufacturing facilities for the production of Nano Fertilisers at Aonla, Phulpur, Kalol, Bengaluru, Paradeep, Kandla, Deoghar, and Guwahati. These units together have the design production capacity of 2 lakh bottles per day. MD of IFFCO, US Awasthi explained the technologies used in the plant and its operations with the help of a video.

The project cost an investment of Rs 3,000 crore. Rs 720 crore is already committed. It is said to generate employment for thousands. 3.60 crore bottles of IFFCO Nano urea Liquid have been produced to date. And 2.50 crore bottles have already been sold, said Awasthi.

Awasthi said the Nano Urea Liquid is very effective in increasing the nutritional quality and productivity of the crop. It has a huge positive impact on the quality of underground water and the environment. This will also help reduce global warming. The inspiration for the project is PM's vision of reducing the use of urea in the soil.
