Why Facebook not applying in India the rules that blocked Trump ?

New Delhi: Many on social media are taking digs at Facebook asking why the platform does not block inciting posts in India as it did with Trump's account.

After blocking Trump's posts, receiving praise even from Trump supporters, the social media giant took flaks on its lopsided approach in India.

Should democracy deserve to prevail only in USA? The question is resoundingly abuzz across the platform since Trump's blockade.

Following Trump supporters' assault on US Capitol, Trump's social media accounts including those on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have been put on hold.

Facebook chief Zuckerberg said the president's account will continue on hold till the power transition is over.

Zuckerberg, who's quick to act when inciting posts threatened American democracy, is accused of unwilling to act on similar posts in India .

The Wall Street Journal earlier reported that the platform's top public-policy executive official Ankhi Das had opposed applying Facebook's hate-speech rules to a BJP leader

There were reports earlier saying Ankhi Das claimed to have said in the sense as helping Modi's election win.

It has been later reported that Facebook grandfathered its policy on hate-speech to skip action against a BJP leader's hate-speech.

Time Magazine also reported Facebook's partiality in its policy operations in India.

The social media giant must be fearing risking its commercial interest by implementing its hate-speech policies in India.
