Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharam predicated gain traction in the county's economic recovery with the coming of COVID-19 vaccine. She was engaging in the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2020. She observed clear indications of recovery in every sector. Festive demand is not solely responsible for ongoing demand generation, she shared.

Finance minister stressed that the environment in which the economy is working is entirely different from the one she presented a current budget statement and the unexplainable challenge has caused by this global pandemic.

Addressing the inflation on food prices, she commented that, "It can be attributed to seasonal fluctuation. With periodic intervention from government, the blip in inflation will ease out." She emphasized that interventions of government are undertaking with the consideration of farmer's interest at heart and shared that MSP mechanism will continue. She remained hopeful of a solution to farmers' protest and ongoing negotiations with the agricultural minister on the matter. "The negotiations are going on so I am not sure it would be good for me to comment at all", Nirmala Sitharam said.
