UP upper-caste men forcing Dalit boy to lick feet caught on camera
text_fieldsRaebareli: A video, which is being circulated on social media, where a Dalit boy is seen to be tortured and made to lick the feet of an upper-caste man, has led to the arrest of seven people in Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli. Ever since the video began circulating, many have called it the worst caste-based violence.
In the video, it can be seen that one among a group of youth, allegedly from upper caste Thakur community, was ordering the teen Dalit boy to lick his feet. The boy is also asked not to dare to do such a mistake again. The video clearly shows that the boy is shivering for the fear of assault and admitting what the men have told him to do.
Police arrested seven people after a video of the assault went viral. The police say the incident took place on April 10 and the arrests were made after a written complaint by the victim. Some of the accused in the case are from upper castes.
The UP police who arrested the men seen in the video charged relevant sections of the law after the victim had made a written complaint and said that the men belonged to the upper caste community.
What is said to have provoked the accused to assault the class 10 student was the boy's asking for the wage for the work his mother had done in the field owned by one of the accused. However, the FIR filed in the case does not mention these specifics.
