Chennai: A minor girl in Chennai suffered the worst at the hands of her mother's male friend and a few others, police say.

In addition to being raped by her mother's male, the girl was forced to sell her the female gamete cell or oocytes to several hospitals.

Police arrested her mother, the man who raped her, a woman intermediary who arranged the sale and another man who forged an Aadhaar card to fake her as a 20-year-old, according to The Indian Express.

Police have initiated probe on some hospitals and a few doctors in the state.

From 2017, the girl's eggs were sold to different hospitals in the state, police confirm with the help of the state health department.

She was forced to sell her eggs at least eight times in the last four years. The girl chose to complain against her mother and her mother's friend after she fell out with them.

After keeping mum over it for years, finally she decided to open up. She stayed at friend's place in Salem before sharing the details with her relatives. Relatives alerted the police about the incident, according to the report.

Police revealed that the girl's mother and the male friend got Rs 20,000 each time they sold the eggs.

The woman who arranged for the sale received Rs 5,000 too.

After her parents separated, the girl moved in to her mother's male friend's house a few years before.

The man raped her multiple times in the house.

A case has been registered under under several sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act; IPC Sections 420, 464, 41, 506 (ii) and Section 34 and 35 of The Aadhaar (Targeted) Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies Benefits and Services Act, the report said.
