Telangana BJP chief's son filmed assaulting a student, charged
text_fieldsHyderabad/New Delhi: Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar's son has been charged for assaulting a fellow student in Hyderabad.
A footage showed Bandi Bhagirath Sai slapping the student identified as Sriram while they are on the college premises.
Another man, believed to be a friend of Bhagirath's, is also seen assaulting the student, according to NDTV.
The case was registered against Sai after a complaint was filed by Mahindra University where both students study.
Another video shows Sriram being abused by Bhagirath and other five-six students at the hostel room.
Bhagirath was seen punching Sriram in his face before others joined in assaulting the student.
Bhagirath Sai reportedly claimed that Sriram misbehaved with his classmate's sister.
Sriram released a video confessing he had sent an objectionable text to the sister of Bhagirath's friend.
"Bhagirath slapped me because I had misbehaved with him and the girl," the student reportedly confessed.
Sriram, requesting to stop using the video, said that the incident had taken place two month ago and they have since reached a compromise.
The state BJP chief called the development a conspiracy by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to settle "political scores".
Making light of the incident he said students fight and patch up and they be kept out politics.
He alleged that the university filed the complaint at the behest of the Chief Minister who wanted to silence him.
