Teen protester apologises for comments against PM Modi

New Delhi: A video circulating on social media purportedly shows a 15-year-old girl, who was booked for allegedly using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a student protest in Delhi over the NEET paper leak, apologising for her remarks.

In the video, widely shared on Reddit, the girl is seen wearing a striped T-shirt and referring to the protest at Connaught Place (CP). She says other protesters were raising slogans and making remarks against the Prime Minister, which prompted her to do the same, Siasat Daily reported.

With folded hands, she says she is only 15 years old and acknowledges that her actions were inexcusable. She apologises to the country, says she feels deeply ashamed of her conduct, and appeals for forgiveness. She also expresses hope that the incident would be treated as her first and last mistake, adding that she is too embarrassed to even look up.

Meanwhile, in a video posted on Instagram on Friday, July 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that although protesters had abused him and even targeted his mother with offensive remarks, he wanted to forgive them.

The Prime Minister said abusive language could never resolve problems and urged society to guide those who had gone astray instead of seeking to punish them. He added that childhood is a time when mistakes are made but also a stage in life that offers an opportunity for correction. Modi appealed to the public to accept his decision to forgive the protesters and called on people to work together for the country rather than respond with abuse.
