Teen commits suicide after parents scolded for playing mobile games

Erode: Being upset due to his parents scolding him for playing video games, an 18-year-old boy committed suicide in Tamil Nadu, PTI reported citing the police's account.

The Malayampalayam police informed that the teenager, hailing from the Vellottamparappu area of Kodumudi block of Erode district, had appeared for his plus two examinations recently. He used to play video games on his mobile and continued despite his parent's advice.

While the parents were at work in a mill on Wednesday, they learned that the boy, who was at the house, had consumed poison. He was taken to hospital, but the doctor declared that he was brought dead.

Police said that the boy had been in a distressed mood for the past few days and took committed the extreme act. They registered a case of suicide.
