New Delhi: A Mumbai-bound Air India Express flight was forced to abort its takeoff at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday evening due to a technical malfunction, a source confirmed.

The flight, carrying around 160 passengers, encountered an issue with the cockpit display systems, specifically the screens that show critical speed parameters.

In response, the pilot opted to halt the takeoff process as a safety precaution.

“The crew of one of our flights from Delhi elected to reject takeoff prioritising safety following a minor technical issue,” said an Air India Express spokesperson.

Following the aborted takeoff, all passengers were safely deboarded and later accommodated on a different aircraft arranged by the airline.

The alternate flight has since departed for Mumbai.

“We regret the inconvenience while reiterating that safety remains paramount in all our operations,” the spokesperson added.
