Tamil Nadu extends lockdown till June 14

Tamil Nadu on Saturday extended the ongoing lockdown by another week till June 14 with certain relaxations. The ongoing lockdown was initially scheduled to end on June 7.

While standalone provision shops, vegetable and fruit vendors shall be allowed to function between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m., fish markets and slaughterhouses shall only be allowed for wholesale in Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Myladuthurai. Government offices can function with 30 per cent of staff, and 50 per cent of workers are allowed in matchbox factories.

In districts other than the above listed, private housekeeping services will be allowed with e-pass and also taxis with three passengers and autorickshaws with two persons. Export units and units supplying raw materials for export units in Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Salem, Karur, Erode, Namakkal and Trichy can supply samples with 10 per cent staff. Electricians, plumbers, carpenters, motor technicians and other self-employed persons will also be allowed to function between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. with an e-pass.
