New Delhi: Syed Sadatullah Hussaini has been re-elected as the Ameer (National President) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind by the Council of Representatives, consisting of 162 members. The council met from 26 to 30 April 2023 and discussed various aspects before deciding to elect Hussaini for a four-year term from April 2023 to March 2027. He had previously served as the Ameer from 2019-23.

Hussaini was born in Mahboobnagar district of Telangana in 1973 and holds a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. He is a well-known thinker, writer, and social leader, and has been a social activist since his student days. He served as the National President of Jamaat's student organization - the Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) of India - for two consecutive terms from 1999 to 2003. He has also held the positions of Vice President and a member of its Central Advisory Council in JIH.

Hussaini is a regular columnist in various magazines, journals, and newspapers where he writes on contemporary issues and current affairs. He is also the Chief Editor of the Urdu monthly magazine, “Zindagi e Nau.” He has authored more than 22 books and more than 400 articles in Urdu and English languages. The topics covered in his books and articles include the application of Islam in contemporary times, Islamic activism, Muslim and minority issues, policymaking, and topics related to philosophy, economics, gender, etc.

Hussaini is on the boards of many social and academic organizations in Hyderabad, Bangalore, New Delhi, Aligarh, and other cities in India. With his vast experience and expertise, he is expected to lead Jamaat-e-Islami Hind towards greater success and growth during his second term as Ameer.
