Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat resigned on Tuesday, ending speculations of resignation. The resignation is allegedly motivated by the lack of support for his work by the BJP led centre-state leadership. The leadership allegedly also has apprehensions that Rawat continuing might lead to a loss in the next elections.

Rawat met JP Nadda, president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, today, as directed by party superiors. Nadda participated in a conference with Home minister Amit Shah and National General Secretary B L Santhosh before the meeting.

A few leaders had met the central leadership expressing dissatisfaction with Rawat. Reports indicate that neither the MLAs nor the RSS was satisfied with Rawat.

A meeting of BJP MLAs is scheduled for 10 AM on Wednesday at the party headquarters to decide the new chief minister. Dhan Singh Rawat, central minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, Member of Parliament Ajay Bhatt, and Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni are being considered.
