Speaker Om Birla to lead Indian delegation to UAE
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Accepting an invitation of Federal National Council of UAE, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will lead an Indian parliamentary delegation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) From February 21 to 25, Asian News International reported.
This is going to be the first-ever parliamentary delegation exchange from both sides, as per an official statement of the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
Om Birla took to 'Koo' that the bond of friendship between the parliaments and people of India and UAE is time-tested. The visit will reinforce historical ties, he wrote.
Indian delegation includes Members of Parliament Sushil Kumar Modi, Dr Fauzia Tahseen Ahmed Khan, Dr MK Vishnu Prasad, P Ravindhranath, Shankar Lalwani and Dr Sujay Radhakrishna Vikhepatil with Secretary-General of Lok Sabha, Utpal Kumar Singh. Joint Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar will be the secretary to the delegation.
The statement further said that the delegation would be visiting Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Speaker of the Federal National Council of UAE, Saqr Gobash, will be hosting the delegation.
Meetings with Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, is also scheduled during the visit, the statement added.
On February 22, Om Birla will address the Federal National Council of UAE.
After, the visitors will stop by places of cultural and historical importance in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
