Sachin Pilot goes up against Ashok Gehlot again, says "will fast against corruption"
text_fieldsJaipur: Former Deputy CM and Congress leader Sachin Pilot has revived the rivalry against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot by saying that he will be fasting for one day on Tuesday to fight against corruption.
He has also demanded that the Gehlot government act against the alleged corruption of the previous BJP government led by Vasundhara Raje. "It is necessary to assure people that the Congress government was acting on its statements and promises made before the 2018 assembly elections." He also said that the Gehlot government has failed to act against the excise mafia, illegal mining, land encroachment, and the Lalit Modi affidavit case, reported NDTV.
He said Congress cannot go into an election without fulfilling the promises. "We have evidence. We should have acted. We should investigate. We are going into elections. The Model Code of Conduct will come into effect soon. We are answerable to the people," said Pilot. He also claimed to have given many suggestions to party leadership about Rajasthan’s affairs and one of them was to act on the corruption issues. "It is our government. We need to act. So, people continue to have confidence in us."
Making the announcement about fasting, he played old videos of Gehlot accusing Raje of corruption and misrule and questioned why the CM had not yet initiated any investigation or inquiry.
After the last elections in Rajasthan, Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot have been at odds. After winning the election in 2018, Pilot was told that he and Gehlot will time-share the CM's job. This never happened. Two years later, Pilot organised a coup but this failed due to the modest support he received.
