Sachin Pilot emphasises collective leadership amid election speculations in Rajasthan

Jaipur: Amidst speculation surrounding potential discord within the Congress ahead of the impending Assembly elections, Sachin Pilot, senior Congress leader and incumbent MLA from Tonk constituency in Rajasthan, addressed the approach to leadership and party responsibilities.
Speaking with ANI, Pilot underscored the party's belief in collective leadership and the delegation of individual responsibilities upon returning to power. "We respect each other and believe in collective leadership. We will fight the polls united and after securing a majority, our MLAs and the party will decide who to delegate responsibilities to," he said.
Highlighting the party's tradition, Pilot stressed that any issues pertaining to this system should be addressed within the leadership. "This has always been the tradition, policy, and history of our party," he asserted.
Asserting the plan post-elections, Pilot stated, "Our mindset and objective is to fight the elections unitedly and win a majority mandate. Should the people bless us back to power, we will sit across the table and decide who should do what. The same procedure was followed in 2018 and will be repeated this year as well. However, our first priority is to win a majority."
Transitioning to a lighter note, Pilot expressed confidence in India's chances in the ongoing cricket World Cup final against Australia, drawing a parallel with the elections. "India will win the World Cup because our performance till now has been better than any other opponent. Similarly, here in Tonk, I feel that the people will help us win back Rajasthan," he said optimistically.
The electoral battle in Tonk sees Sachin Pilot contesting against Ajit Singh Mehta, fielded by the BJP, who is a former MLA from the same constituency.
Rajasthan is set to go to polls in a single phase on November 25, with vote counting scheduled for December 3.
In 2018, the Congress secured 99 seats, while the BJP won 73 in the 200-member House. Eventually, Ashok Gehlot took the oath as CM with the support of BSP MLAs and independent legislators.
