Repolling records 81.6% voter turnout at 11 Manipur polling stations
text_fieldsImphal: Repolling at 11 polling stations in the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency concluded with an impressive voter turnout of 81.6% on Monday, officials reported.
The Election Commission's decision to conduct the repolling followed its declaration that voting at these stations on April 19 was null and void.
Despite earlier incidents of firing, intimidation, and alleged booth capturing during the initial polling, Monday's repolling was conducted without any disturbances or violence, according to an election official.
The official further stated, "Voters queued up since early morning to exercise their franchise at all the 11 polling stations, which were affected by a riot-like situation on Friday. No disturbance or violence has been reported so far on Monday."
While the day proceeded smoothly, a complaint was lodged by the Congress party, alleging that an unidentified individual had threatened a Congress agent over the phone at the Moirangkampu Sajeb polling booth.
The repolling, held between 7 am and 5 pm, was conducted under stringent security measures to ensure the safety of voters and polling personnel.
