Model of the under-construction Ram temple in Ayodhya

Ayodhya: The Bharatiya Janata Party Minority Morcha has plans to light ‘diyas’ in certain mosques and dargahs for ten days ahead of the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, reports Siasat.

The lighting will start on January 12 and end on January 22, which is the day of the main rituals of the consecration.

National president of the BJP Minority Morcha, Jamal Siddiqui, informed the plan of lighting diyas in shrines such as Delhi’s Jama Masjid and Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah.

Siddiqui called the Ram Mandir inauguration a ‘big day for all Indians’, and he urged all Indian Muslims to take part in the celebrations. He asked them to ‘respect’ the Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb of the country, Siasat reports.

Quint reports him saying that if Muslims expect Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit their shrines, they must celebrate Ram Mandir's inauguration, too. He added he himself goes to the dargahs and Muslim shrines to distribute the diyas.

Meanwhile, members of the Jama Masjid and the Nizamuddin Dargah said that they were not aware of the plan and no one had approached them with it.
