Procurement policy drafted for Prasar Bharati: I&B Ministry
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Minister of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has formulated a procurement policy for Prasar Bharati to procure specific quality materials, services and jobs in a highly competitive, fair and transparent manner. This effort is a part of the government's Ease of Doing Business initiative.
This policy is aimed at all procurement agencies in all Prasar Bharati Verticals which includes All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan (DD). The policy was unveiled by I&B Ministry's secretary Apurva Chandra in the presence of senior Prasar Bharati officials and ministry officials on Wednesday, according to the New Indian Express.
"Prasar Bharati was in need of a uniform and well-documented policy guideline and processes in place, ensuring that critical works are completed on time, in a well-coordinated manner, and with the fewest cost overruns possible," said the ministry.
Chandra said efforts to bring about such a comprehensive policy would aid the organization achieve several milestones. Using procurement modes, procurement can be divided into major stages, which affect process standardization and shortening of procurement time
