Bhopal: A mob ransacked a school in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district accusing the principal of posting comments against Lord Ram in a WhatsApp status.
The footage of the incident being circulated on Tuesday showed protesters smashing windows, tearing posters and damaging school properties, The Indian Express reported.
Meanwhile, a senior VHP leader told The Indian Express that protest was due to the WhatsApp status containing remarks against Lord Ram that went viral, adding that ‘We have filed a complaint to the police on the same’.
While demanding apology from the school director, the protesters warned of larger agitation in the event of police not taking action.
They left the premises after lingering for about three hours when the police assured that action would be taken.
It is reported citing a senior police officer that an FIR is yet to register just as probe is underway to ensure that the accused uploaded the post and not an AI image, adding that’ The school principal will be questioned soon. We have deployed additional force here to maintain the peace’.
However, the school administration has not yet responded to the allegation.
The protesters according to the police threw ‘mud-filled’ bag inside the school and ‘smeared’ black paint on the walls.
