Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi bowed to the people of West Bengal on Saturday while attending Suvendu Adhikari’s swearing-in as Leader of the Opposition at Brigade Parade Grounds.

Mr Modi arrived in Kolkata for the event, riding an open jeep with Mr Adhikari and state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya, waving to thousands of saffron-clad supporters amid traditional drum performances.

On stage, he greeted dignitaries including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states. He then honoured senior BJP worker Makhanlal Sarkar with a shawl and sought his blessings.

Waving to the crowd, Mr Modi bowed deeply in thanks. In a social media post, he wrote: "I bow to the Jana Shakti of West Bengal!" – sharing a video of the moment.
