PM to inaugurate Bose statue at India Gate today
text_fieldsNew Delhi: On the occasional of the 125th anniversary celebration of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the large hologram of a proposed statue of Bose at the India Gate today. The hologram will stand in place until the granite statue construction is completed according to government press releases.
Republic Day celebrations were started on January 23 to include Bose Jayanti aka Parakram Divas, for the first time. The ceremony to inaugurate the statue construction will be held at 6 PM today.
"Wishing all the countrymen a very Happy Parakram Diwas. My respectful tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 125th birth anniversary. I bow to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his Jayanti. Every Indian is proud of his monumental contribution to our nation," the Prime Minister tweeted.
The hologram statue will be powered by a 30,000 lumens 4K projector. An invisible, high gain, 90 per cent transparent holographic screen has been erected in such a way so that it is not visible to visitors. The 3D image of Netaji will be projected on it to create the effect of a hologram. The size of the hologram statue is 28 feet in height and 6 feet in width, according to a statement issued by Prime Minister's Office.
Union minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah also remembered Netaji for his "unparalleled struggle" for the motherland. "He shook the foundation of foreign rule by organising the youth with his extraordinary patriotism, indomitable courage and stunning speech. His unparalleled sacrifice, tenacity and struggle for the motherland will always guide the country," he said.
A total of seven Subhas Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskars will also be handed over by the Prime Minister to their respective winners at the ceremony. The awards are being presented for the years 2019 to 2022 and are dedicated to those who have achieved selfless and great contributions in the fields of disaster management.
The award carries a cash prize of ₹ 51 lakh and a certificate in case of an institution and ₹ 5 lakh and a certificate in case of an individual.
