Parliament budget session to begin January 31, presentation scheduled for February 1

The Budget Session of Parliament is set to commence on January 31 and will continue until April 4, with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman slated to present her eighth consecutive budget on February 1.

As per tradition, the session will open with an address by President Droupadi Murmu to a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on January 31. This will be followed by the presentation of the Economic Survey, providing a comprehensive overview of the country's economic performance.

The Budget Session will be conducted in two phases, comprising a total of 27 sittings. The initial phase will run from January 31 to February 13, featuring nine sittings. During this time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to deliver his response to the Motion of Thanks on the President's address, and Finance Minister Sitharaman will address discussions related to the budget.

Parliament will then adjourn for a recess, allowing members to scrutinise the budget proposals in detail. The second phase will resume on March 10, focusing on the demands for grants from various ministries and the completion of the budgetary process.

The session will officially conclude on April 4, ensuring ample time for comprehensive deliberation on financial policies and proposals.

This year’s Budget Session is anticipated to be crucial in shaping India's economic trajectory for the coming fiscal year.
