New Delhi: On May 5, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had called for action against Comedian Kunal Kamra for tweeting a "doctored" video of a boy singing a patriotic song for Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month during his Germany visit.

In connection with this, NCPCR, the country's top child rights body has issued a summons today to Twitter India's communications director for not submitting an action taken report against comedian for posting the doctored video. The Commission has summoned the director seeking details about the action taken report.

The NCPCR sent a letter sent on Tuesday which said, "A letter in this regard was sent to your good offices dated 05.05.2022 calling for an ATR (action taken report) in the instant complaint within 7 days or receipt of the letter." "However, no such ATR has yet been received by the Commission".

According to NDTV, Kunal Kamra had shared a video which shows the interaction between the Prime Minister and the 7 year old boy. The original audio had the boy signing 'Janmabhoomi Bharat' which was replaced with a popular folk song 'Mehengayi daayan' from the movie 'Peepli Live' that spoke about inflation.

Following this, Kamra and the boy's father engaged in a Twitter face off, where the father criticised the comedian for involving a boy in his politics and told him to keep his son out of "filthy politics".

Ganesh Pol, The father of the child said, "He is my 7 year old son, who wanted to sing this song for his beloved Motherland. Though he is still very young but certainly he loves his country more than you Mr Kamra or Kachra whatever u are. Keep the poor boy out of your filthy politics & and try to work on your poor jokes. (sic)"
