NGO sealed, 2 arrested for illegal adoption of Covid orphans in J&K
text_fieldsIn connection with the illegal adoption of Covid orphans, police in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district arrested two people and sealed an NGO on Thursday. Police and civil administration sealed the Pampore office of an NGO after filing an FIR in connection with the alleged illegal adoption and sale of Covid orphans.
A report citing serious allegations against two persons has also led to the arrest of two more persons. A police report has also been filed at the Pampore police station. Social Welfare Department secretary Sheetal Nanda has approached IGP Kashmir to ensure legal action is taken immediately in the matter.
Furthermore, Shabnam Kamili, Director, ICPS J&K, issued an order ordering Child Welfare Committees to meet the Covid orphans on their own who have already been identified by the Department and uploaded on several online government portals and submit a report to the Directorate of ICPS.
According to sources, fact-finding commissions have also been formed in all of Jammu and Kashmir's districts to find out the number and well-being of orphans/Covid orphans.
