Mumbai: Nawab Malik, a Maharashtra minister who is accused of money laundering, was granted judicial custody by a special court in Mumbai on Monday.

A money-laundering probe linked to fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his aides led to the arrest of Mr Malik on Feb 23 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

NCP leader was in ED's custody until March 7 and was then subsequently sent to jail under judicial custody until March 21, which was extended till April 4.

RN Rokade granted Mr Malik judicial custody until April 18 after he appeared on Monday in front of a special court for the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) cases.

He filed a complaint with the Supreme Court against an order of the Bombay High Court that rejected his interim application for immediate release from jail.
