New Delhi: Expelled BJP leader Naveen Kumar Jindal appealed people not to share on social media his whereabouts as his family is facing "threat" from Islamic fundamentalists.

Naveen Kumar Jindal, who was removed from BJP over his remarks on Prophet Muhammad, said despite his requests people were posting his residential address on social media, according to NDTV.

Sharing the screenshot of a number from which he claimed to receive threats, he urged Delhi Police to take action.

BJP's national spokesperson Nupur Sharma was also expelled from BJP last week after her comments on Prophet Muhammad received widespread criticism.

However, Jindal called himself a "proud Hindu" but said that safety of his family was his priority now.

Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta said Jindal's comments vitiated communal harmony, while violating the BJP's fundamental beliefs.

Jindal, a former a journalist, previously received criticism over his social media posts.

He is facing cases in Punjab for allegedly sharing a doctored video of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Twitter
