Morbi bridge collapse: Charge sheet filed in Morbi Sessions Court

Gujarat: A charge sheet was filed by the police on Friday in the case of the suspension bridge collapse in Morbi, Gujarat in October last year, which claimed the lives of 135 people.
The investigating officer for the case, Deputy Superintendent of Police P S Zala, filed the charge sheet, which totals more than 1,200 pages, in the Morbi Sessions Court.
Jaysukh Patel of the Oreva Group, which formerly operated the bridge, has been listed as the tenth accused in the charge sheet in addition to the nine accused who are already in jail, according to reports.
A magistrate's court has already issued an arrest warrant against Jaysukh Patel in connection with the October 30, 2022 bridge collapse incident. His anticipatory bail plea will come up for hearing on February 1.
Ajanta Manufacturing Limited (Oreva Group) was responsible for the operation and maintenance of the British-era suspension bridge on the Machchhu river that had collapsed.
