Modi to speak in women ascetics seminar on Womens Day

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to speak in a seminar on women ascetics on International Women's Day. Modi's address, scheduled on Tuesday, would be held at Dhordo in Kutch of Gujarat, NDTV reported.

8th of March is held as International Women's Day, and this year it is themed as "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow". The day calls for climate action for women by women.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) informed that the seminar intends to raise awareness of the role of women saints in society and their contributions to women empowerment.

The seminar is going to host around 500 women ascetics and preachers. They are to attend the event on online mode. It will include sessions on culture, religion, upliftment of women, security, social status and their role in society.

Further, a discussion is planned on the welfare schemes for women, put forward by the state and central governments, benefiting them. The discussion will also feature the achievements of women.

Other attendees of the seminar will be Union Ministers Smriti Irani, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Bharati Pravin Pawar. Also, Sadhvi Rithambara, Maha Mandleshwar of Kankeshwari Devi, among others, PMO informed.

Meanwhile, on Monday, PM Modi talked with winners of the 'Nari Shakti Puraskar', an initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development to acknowledge priceless contributions made by individuals or institutions aiming at women as game changers and catalysts of positive change in society.

Twenty-eight awards, 14 each in 2020 and 2021, will be presented to 29 people for their services towards women empowerment, particularly those in vulnerable or marginalized sessions.
