Modern Love Mumbai, the first of the three localised Indian versions of the popular New York-based show, will stream on Amazon Prime Video in May. The OTT platform announced that the premiere will be on May 13.

Modern Love is an internationally acclaimed anthology series showcasing soul-stirring love stories set in the modern age. The show is inspired by the popular New York Times column of the same name.

The Mumbai chapter of the show has brought six renowned filmmakers - Vishal Bhardwaj, Hansal Mehta, Shonali Bose, Dhruv Sehgal, Alankrita Shrivastava, and Nupur Asthana together. One of the stories 'Raat Rani' directed by Bose stars Fatima Sana Shaikh, Bhupendra Jadawat, and Dilip Prabhavalkar.

Amazon Prime Video announced that the original series will feature six stories about "discovering and exploring love in all its shades and emotions."

Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Mumbai Dragon' stars Yeo Yann Yann, Meiyang Chang, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Naseeruddin Shah while Mehta's 'Baai' is headlined by Tanuja, Pratik Gandhi, and Ranveer Brar. Sarika, Danesh Razvi, Ahsaas Channa, and Tanvi Azmi are starring in Shrivastava's 'My Beautiful Wrinkles'.

Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals, Amazon Prime Video, said Modern Love Mumbai is a bouquet of "heart-warming, lyrical stories that explore love in its many forms. And together, all the stories represent a unique love affair with the poly-cultural city of Mumbai." She added that the team is certain that these stories will bring hope, humour, and sunshine into viewers' lives.

All six stories are bringing together an interesting cast as Sehgal's 'I Love Thane' features Masaba Gupta, Ritwik Bhowmik, Prateik Babbar, Aadar Malik, and Dolly Singh. 'Cutting Chai' by Asthana stars Chitrangada Singh and Arshad Warsi.

Producer Pritish Nandy said the anthology 'beautifully negotiates through the different shades of love that Mumbai, the city of dreams, throws up and celebrates'. He is confident that every story will tug at and win the audience's hearts. "Like they say, love makes the world go round."

Amazon Prime Video has announced two more localised adaptations - Modern Love Chennai and Modern Love Hyderabad.
