New Delhi: A 25-year-old man who pretended to be drinking alcohol and eating eggs inside the Delhi Metro train was arrested.

Akash Sharma, an MCom degree holder from Delhi University, shot the video of the act to become popular, according to The Indian Express.

Sharma was travelling in the Pink Line from Welcome Metro station to Karkardooma Court station around 10 pm on March 23 when the act was filmed.

Hareshwar Swami, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Metro, said that Sharma claimed to have drunk soft drink but pretended it was liquor to ‘gain popularity on social media’.

‘He committed an offence under Section 59 of DMRC Act and legal action has been initiated against him,’ the officer said.

Sharma was arrested from Burari after Amar Dev, senior station manager at Karkardooma Metro station, lodged a complaint.

Hareshwar Swami, Deputy Commissioner of Police, added that to locate Sharma, ‘The viral video was also shared on the police station’s WhatsApp groups to search for the person’.
