Man found hanging from mango tree in UP's Farrukhabad; family alleges murder
text_fieldsFarrukhabad: Tension gripped Jyonta village under Mohammadabad police station in Farrukhabad district after a 35-year-old man, visiting his in-laws, was found hanging from a mango tree in suspicious circumstances on Sunday morning. The family alleges murder, while police have launched a probe.
Sanjay Kumar, son of Ram Avtar from Vikas Nagar on Mainpuri Road in Etah district's Aliganj area, had arrived at his in-laws' home in Jyonta on Saturday. Villagers spotted his body hanging from a tree in Jogendra Singh's field early Sunday and alerted the family. Sanjay's father-in-law, Naresh Chandra, called police via 112.
SHO Vinod Kumar Shukla and his team rushed to the scene for a preliminary inquiry, with the Dial 112 team recording initial details. Sanjay's father, Ram Avtar, insisted his son—recently back from Delhi—was murdered and the body staged as a suicide.
However, Sanjay's wife Moni claimed ongoing marital discord, accusing him of past threats including self-harm and petrol attacks amid disputes over his alleged Delhi affair. She said prior rows had involved police.
The eldest of five siblings, Sanjay married Moni in 2009; they have two children. His mother Surajmukhi and relatives are devastated.
A forensic team gathered evidence, Sub-Inspector Arvind Awasthi conducted the inquest, and the body went for post-mortem. Police await the report for further action.
