Bengaluru: Flipkart's flash sale of milk at Rs 1 per litre has triggered a storm in Karnataka, with Bangalore Urban, Rural and Ramanagara District Co-operative Milk Producers' Societies Union Limited (BAMUL) president D.K. Suresh urging PM Narendra Modi to step in and vowing a CCI complaint.

In a media briefing, Suresh blasted the promo—already offloading 14.5 lakh litres—as a market grab that endangers farmers paid Rs 38-40 per litre. "Flipkart has come forward to sell one litre of milk for just Rs 1 in its rush to make money. This is an act that could destroy the farming community. The Central and state governments must immediately take action. Otherwise, the situation may lead to protests across the country," he warned.

Alleging Rs 2,000 crore shareholder fund misuse, Suresh demanded Flipkart reveal sourcing, duration, and if milk powder is mixed. The samples will be tested in a laboratory. "Flipkart must withdraw from this move which harms the farming community," he said, probing possible domestic players.

BAMUL sales dropped 40,000-50,000 litres—not just Nandini—prompting state government CCI moves too. Suresh rallied media and farmers: "I call upon farmers to launch protests. The Union government must take precautionary measures."
