New Delhi: Kailash Gahlot, Delhi's Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, resigned from the party on Sunday, citing growing disillusionment with the party's internal dynamics and failure to fulfill key promises. Gahlot, who has held important portfolios in the Delhi government, including Transport, Law, and Revenue, addressed his resignation in a letter to AAP's National Convener Arvind Kejriwal.

In his letter, Gahlot expressed disappointment over the party's recent controversies, including the 'Sheesh Mahal' issue, which he believes has caused public doubt about whether the party still stands by its foundational principles of being an 'Aam Aadmi.' He also noted that the party's focus on internal political battles, particularly with the central government, has hindered progress for Delhi and the fulfillment of its promises.

Gahlot highlighted that the challenges within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had become insurmountable, stating that political ambition had overtaken the party’s original commitment to the people. He expressed concern that this shift had led to many unfulfilled promises, citing the ongoing pollution of the Yamuna river as a major example. Gahlot pointed out that despite AAP’s pledge to clean the Yamuna, the river had only become more polluted over time, symbolizing the party’s failure to deliver on its key promises to the people of Delhi.

Gahlot also expressed frustration with the party's focus on internal political conflicts rather than addressing the needs of Delhi's residents. "Instead of fighting for people's rights, we have increasingly only been fighting for our own political agenda. This has severely tripled our ability to even deliver basic services to the people of Delhi," he said. He concluded that real progress for Delhi would remain unattainable if the Delhi government continued to engage in constant battles with the central government.
