India's daily Covid tally crosses 12k-mark for second straight day
text_fieldsNew Delhi: India's Covid tally saw a marginal rise in daily cases on Friday as the country logged 12,847 in the last 24 hours, according to the Union ministry of health and family welfare. On Thursday, the country reported 12,213 infections.
The country's COVID-19 tally now stands at 4,32,70,577.
India's active COVID-19 caseload currently stands at 63,063, the Health Ministry said.
With 14 new Covid-related fatalities on Friday, the country's total number of deaths rose to 5,24,817.
Maharashtra remained the worst-affected state; it contributed 4,255 infections on Thursday. This was the highest single-day spike since February 12. Meanwhile, Delhi logged 1,323 infections.
Tamil Nadu logged 552 infections. Kerala, another state seeing a gradual rise in the Covid-19 cases along with other states, logged 3,419 fresh infections reported on Thursday. With 87 fresh Covid-19 infections, Chandigarh Tricity's active cases once again crossed the 500 mark on Thursday after 114 days.
According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Friday (June 17), the country saw a total of 7,985 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate to around 98.64 percent, and total recoveries data reached to 4,26,82,697.
The daily positivity rate stands at 2.35 percent while the weekly positivity rate is at 2.38 percent. The national recovery rate was 98.65 percent. The cumulative Covid vaccine doses administered across India have exceeded 195.67 crores.
On the vaccination front, cumulatively 195.84 doses of the Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far, as per the ministry.
