New Delhi: Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust treasurer Govind Dev Giri Maharaj on Sunday called Gyanvapi, Kashi, Mathura ‘three biggest scars of the attacks done by invaders’.

Govind Dev Giri Maharaj urged Muslim side across the aisle to give up their claim to these places and resolve the dispute peacefully.

In a more conciliatory tone he told an event in Pune: ‘We do not even desire to look at the other temples if three temples are freed because we have to live in the future and not in the past.’

He said that the country’s future would be good in the event of getting these temples back, adding ‘peacefully we will forget about all other things’.

Calling these mosques biggest scars, he said: ‘If the Muslim side can heal this pain amicably, then it will help in building brotherhood’.

The Hindu side has claimed that Mughals established the Gyanvapi and Mathura mosques after demolishing grand Hindu temples.

Last month, the Hindu litigants citing the ASI survey claimed the Gyanvapi mosque was built on the remains of a Hindu temple.

The Varanasi court allowed Hindus to offer prayers from February 1 at ‘Vyas Ka Tehkhana’ area inside the Gyanvapi mosque, sitting close to the Kashi Vishwanath temple.

The Mathura mosque is near the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple.

The Masjid Intezamia Committee approached the Allahabad High Court against its decision allowing Hindus to pray inside the southern celler of the mosque.
