text_fieldsHaridwar: A Muslim man was allegedly assaulted, publicly humiliated and paraded with a dog leash around his neck after a group of more than 10 men allegedly barged into a woman's house in Uttarakhand's Haridwar, where he had gone to visit a friend, according to The Indian Express.
According to the FIR, the victim, a resident of Karnal in Haryana who works in Haridwar, was visiting a woman he had known for nearly five years at her house when 10 to 12 unidentified men allegedly forced their way into the house and attacked him. The woman reportedly tried to stop the assault, but the group also abused her before dragging the man outside.
Videos of the incident, which have surfaced on social media, show the victim seated outside the house with a dog leash tied around his neck while members of the mob question him. The woman's family alleged that the attackers continued beating him even after he began bleeding and later subjected him to public humiliation. They also alleged that his mobile phone and other belongings were snatched during the assault.
The complainant alleged that the victim was held and humiliated for nearly three hours before police reached the spot and arranged an ambulance to take him for medical treatment.
