FIR filed after viral videos allege abuse at Bengaluru daycare inside Capgemini campus
text_fieldsBengaluru: Police have registered an FIR after videos circulated on social media allegedly showing caregivers physically abusing toddlers at a daycare centre located within the Capgemini campus in Brookefield.
The Child Helpline filed a complaint following the circulation of the clips, prompting HAL Police to name five female caregivers in the FIR. The facility has been identified as the Society Generale Baby Care Centre, used by employees of the IT company to look after young children during work hours.
The complaint alleges multiple forms of mistreatment of children, most of them around two years old, including rough handling when they cried or became restless. The viral footage reportedly shows one child placed inside a washing machine drum, another forcibly sprayed with a toilet jet, and several children locked inside a washroom and threatened into silence.
Police said they are verifying the authenticity of the videos and have begun recording statements from daycare management, staff and parents. Investigators will also probe whether the alleged incidents occurred repeatedly and if any prior complaints were filed. The FIR cites relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
Officials from the Department of Women and Child Development are expected to inspect the centre for compliance with child-safety norms and licensing requirements. Authorities said further action will follow based on the inquiry’s findings.
The visuals have sparked public outrage and renewed calls for stricter oversight of daycare facilities and stronger safeguards to protect children.
