Jaipur: A female teacher, Anita Regar, who was burnt alive a week ago has succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday night. The videos of the incident have gone viral on social media.

The attack took place at Raisar village, which is about 80 km from Jaipur. The 32-year-old victim was a teacher at Veena Memorial School.

According to sources, Anita was going to school with her six-year-old son at around 8 am on August 10. Attackers blocked her way and Anita sought refuge in a house nearby. She called the police for help but they did not arrive in time. The assailants poured petrol on Anita and set her on fire.

People around her recorded the video instead of helping her. Anita's husband and other family members rushed to the spot but she had already suffered 70% burns. She was admitted to SMS Hospital in Jaipur.

Tarachand, her husband, said the accused are his relatives and Anita had lent them Rs 2.5 lakhs. They started abusing her when she demanded the money. They even beat her up at one point. Anita had lodged an FIR on the matter on May 7 but the police did not take any action.

After the attack a week ago, the police asked people to not share the videos. However, after Anita's death, people started sharing them. The viral videos have drawn attention to the state of law and order in Rajasthan.

ASP Dharmendra Yadav said the police are investigating the matter and the accused will be arrested soon. So far, no action has been taken.
