Farmers burn the three farm bills to celebrate 'Holika Dahan'
text_fieldsThe farmers camping outside the Delhi border 'celebrated' Holi by burning the three farm bills. Holika Dahan is celebrated on the first day of Holi by lighting a pyre with an effigy signifying Holika. The farmers protesting the three farm laws over the last three months did not return home and celebrated Holi at the capital borders instead.
The Kisan Morcha reiterated that they would not back off from the protest unless the three laws are withdrawn, and crops are granted minimum support price (MSP).
They further added that they would observe 'FCI Bachao' day on April 5th, along with an office picketing from 11 AM to 5 PM.
Their statement also reiterates how the centre is trying different means to sabotage the MSP and the Public Distribution System. Additionally, the centre drastically slashed the funds allotted to the FCI and amended the FCI's policies regarding procuring crops.
